Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if trauma therapy is right for me? If you feel overwhelmed, on edge, emotionally exhausted, or unsafe in your body—especially if these experiences are connected to past events—trauma therapy may be helpful. You don’t need to have a specific diagnosis or be “ready to talk about everything” to begin.
Will I have to relive my trauma in therapy? No. Trauma therapy does not require retelling or re-experiencing events in detail before you feel ready. My approach focuses on safety, stabilization, and helping your nervous system regulate at a pace that feels manageable and supportive.
What is EMDR, and how does it help with PTSD? EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that helps the brain process traumatic memories so they feel less distressing and intrusive. Many people experience a reduction in symptoms without having to talk extensively about the trauma.
How long does trauma therapy take? Everyone’s healing process is different. Some clients notice changes within a few months, while others benefit from longer-term work. We will regularly check in and adjust the pace based on your needs and goals.
Do you accept insurance or offer self-pay options? We offer both! We accept a number of health insurance plans, but if your plan doesn't consider me in-network, or if you have a high deductible plan, a one hour session costs $150. I’m happy to discuss fees, insurance, and payment options during an initial consultation.
How do I get started? If you’re interested in working together, you can reach out to schedule a consultation or first session. I’m happy to answer questions and help you decide if this feels like a good fit.
